English Language Challenges

Hello everyone, I hope you have a good end of the semester 馃憤馃憤馃憤

I didn't have English as a subject a long time ago, I left school in 2017, and the years after that I was in a university where this subject didn't exist in the mesh.

It has been very difficult for me to go back to studying English, especially with the pandemic. I have to study it alone and I can't practice with anyone.

My motivation is not the same and it is hard for me to have distance learning. I am very embarrassed to practice speaking English, I think I pronounce badly and I can't express myself very well. I can understand when I read or listen to English, but when I try to communicate I freeze.

The blogs have been very interesting and fun, I have practiced writing and new words for my vocabulary. I like to read other people, to find out how they have been through it and how they cope with everything. I have met and become interested in many new things thanks to the blogs.

I want to study on my vacation on my own, and if I can take personal lessons I would be very happy, as I really want to learn this language.

I actually use this language very little in my daily life, only when I watch videos of American youtubers and interviews of artists I like.

I will put into practice the advice of people who have learned other languages, like watching series in English and their subtitles as well, listening to podcasts in English, listening to music in the language, etc.

Goodbye, I hope to meet you again and get to know you in person! Cheer up and take care ❤

Changes to my study programme

 Hi friends!!

It is difficult to think about what could be changed in the Social Work curriculum, because since it is a career that was reopened in 2015, it is not yet possible to know how the graduated professionals perform. In addition, it is a career that was reopened with new educational proposals, with a different vision from the oldest institutions that teach social work.

I am in my second year and so far I think that the study plan is quite good, I really like the fact that they start us with the basic subjects of social sciences.

Also, I enjoy sharing subjects with students from other careers, so we can complement each other's perspectives.

I think that the co-curricular subjects are very interesting and help us to develop in other areas, but I would like to have more quotas.

He considered that the length of the course is fine for the amount of content we have to learn. There are even subjects that are not enough to pass all the content, because they are very dense. The readings sometimes feel infinite haha because of the complexity or the number of pages we are told to read.

I have studied these two years in remote mode, so I do not know the on-site university. I cannot comment on the resources we have to develop as students. In my case, I am grateful to have the possibility of having my own computer and an iPad, which has made it easier for me to connect to classes and meet with classmates for assignments. I hope everyone is doing well, and I look forward to the end of the semester! Goodbye I hope everyone is doing well, and I look forward to the end of the semester! Goodbye

The ways of teaching are different in each teacher, but I want to emphasize that each one of them masters the topics and presents them in different ways so that we can understand. They are understanding and flexible people, especially in these pandemic years.

I hope everyone is doing well, and I look forward to the end of the semester!

Postgraduate Studies

Hi, hi..!!

I love to study and learn new things, and it is in my mind to take courses after I graduate from Social Work.

I have so many in my head that I don't know which one I would choose to do first. There are courses that have to do with the career I am studying, and there are others that are not so directly related.

I would like to take sign language courses, since I was little I have wanted to learn, I think you must feel very excluded not being able to have a fluent conversation with others. Also, I would love to learn more about the Mapuche people (like their language, customs or ways of living), this because my family is a descendant of this nation and I would like to know their positions to work with them as a professional.

I would like to have sign language courses, since I was a child I have wanted to learn, I think that deaf-mute people must feel very excluded not being able to have a fluent conversation with others. Also, I would love to learn more about the Mapuche people (like their language, customs or ways of living), this because my family is a descendant of this nation and I would like to know their positions to work with them as a professional.

I would also like to learn more about psychology and law, I think they would be of great help for my career and my professional future.

I think one of the things I would most like to learn (and I think I could not do it) is singing and acting, it is one of the things I like since I am very small, I would have those courses just for fun and to fulfill one of my frustrated dreams, since I would not practice as such.

I would study most of the courses in Chile, but if there is an opportunity to learn abroad it would be great. I think the mode of study that I would most like is face-to-face, but if there are online theoretical courses I would not hesitate to take them. It would be great to be able to take courses that last only the morning and without the need to work, so I can focus 100% on it.

 Goodbye, have a good week....

My future job

Hello everyone, I hope you are doing very well...

I would love to have a job that contributes to society and makes big changes in the country. I imagine it as a constant interaction with people of all ages.  I would like there to be a union as my work team and we can come up with new ideas together.

I would like to work in an office for the organization or planning of projects, I like to have my place tidy and comfortable for a better work development.

I consider that working outside when doing interventions is very important, since visiting places can give you more knowledge and talking to other people gives you new perspectives.

As much as I love travel, I would like to have a job where travel is a rare thing. I hope to work more in the region where I work.

I don't consider the salary to be the most important thing, I just hope that I can be independent and that it is enough for my basic needs. It is not in my future plans to have children, so I would not have those expenses and it would not be necessary to be thinking about money constantly for them to have a better life.  But, I do want to have pets!

I am currently in my second year of social work, and I have never really thought about what major I would like to choose. However, I would love to work in areas that have to do with children or the elderly. I think these are age groups that need support and are very neglected by the system, people and the State.

I would like to add that I would love to work with people who are friendly and dedicated, who are motivated by social change and want to accomplish the goals we will set as a team.

Positive, negative and funny experiences of this world pandemic.

 HIIII FRIENDS,

This issue is very complex to address, knowing all that it has generated around the world. With my family we have tried to cope with this health crisis in the best way, trying not to go out unless it is very necessary, constant hand washing, always wearing a mask and an alcohol gel.

We have not seen my family on my dad's side since the pandemic started, as they live in the south of Chile. And on mom's side very little, only in very necessary and punctual cases.

My mother works in the health area, in a CESFAM in Puente Alto as an administrative, she always comes to take a bath, take off her shoes before entering the house and wash her work clothes.

I think this has made us all be more cautious with hygiene, acquiring new and good habits. Nowadays it is very common to wear a mask and I find that it is beneficial for everyone, both in winter or when we are in very closed places, such as the subway.

Now that I am more at home I have given myself the opportunity to do many things that I love and that I gave up doing when I went to college, such as baking, singing, playing with my dog and taking naps.

Banana and oat brownie.

I don't think I have had any problems with my studies, as I am very organized and I like to learn. However, I like to talk and discuss the topics I am learning about and online I don't have those spontaneous instances. But also, it should be noted that the confinement at home has become complicated, since my study area, rest, leisure and food in the same, so I feel guilty while I rest having the desk next to me and with pending things. In addition, I have to take care of many things, since my mom works, I have a younger brother and pets, I have a very marked routine that sometimes tires, walking my dog, classes, cooking, tidying up, cleaning, studying, and the list goes on. I am aware that my mom arrives physically and psychologically tired, so I try to make sure she only comes to rest.

I am optimistic about everything that is happening, I believe that we will be able to acquire these new habits in the best way and that soon we will all be vaccinated and always following the rules.

I think there are many negative things to talk about what we are experiencing as a society, from confinement, unemployment, death of loved ones, not seeing family members, among many other things.

But I can rescue some positive and fun things, like spending more time with my pet, being able to make myself a tea whenever I want (hahaha) and that my grandparents are using more the WhatsApp application, they send audios and very funny pictures.

Love to all of you, I hope you are well with your family 馃挐

Favorite movie: THE JOKER

 Hello everyone!

Cinema is something that I love, since I was little with my family we have seen many movies (and series). At home we have a big collection of movies, of all styles. Now with Netflix my mom can't stop looking at the screen hahaha.

The genres of movies I like the most are dramatic, suspense, psychological, children's and romance. I like movies that are interesting and make you get into the story.

Today I will recommend you one of the movies that I really like lately, The Joker. It is suspenseful and psychological, you are very attentive until the end, where your doubts are answered. Very rarely happens to me that I see the movie more than once and this is one of them, I think I've seen it about 5 times.

I went to the theater without much expectation, thinking it would be a movie of superheroes and villains. Besides, I hate clowns, so I was not convinced. But when I saw it, I realized that it was totally different from how I imagined it, it generated a lot of emotions, sorrow, anger and laughter. Joaquin Phoenix's performance is fantastic, it made my skin crawl like when I hear someone singing beautifully.

Maybe many here have already seen it, but for those who haven't, I'll tell you what it's about. Arthur Fleck is a mentally ill person who works as a clown, but he is not doing very well. Within his imbalances he foments a rebellion against the rich of the gothic city.

I found it very interesting how mental illness is presented in an individualistic city, how they stigmatize them and the little importance they give to these issues.

I hope you will see this film nominated for several categories at the Oscars, Golden Globes, Grammy Awards, among others. And of course, watch it in English! (Joaquin Phoenix worked more than 3 months on the voice and laughter of his character).

Kind regards,

And why so serious?

THE BEST HOLIDAYS

Hello classmates,

The last vacation I have in my memory with much affection. I traveled with my boyfriend, little brother, mom, and grandparents on mom's side. We went to visit my paternal grandmother in her new house in the south, which is located in Osorno, at the end of January 2020 and stayed for a week.

We enjoyed a lot the days, we went to the beach San Juan de la Costa, to rivers that were close to the house, to the hot springs of Puyehue, to Frutillar and we walked a lot in the forest picking fruits and taking a lot of pictures. After that my grandmother made us a cake with the berries, it was very good.

Puyehue

I rested a lot during those days and laughed a lot with my family. In the evenings we stayed in the dining room to talk, listen to music and play cards.

It was the best vacation because I was able to be with the people I love the most, I was able to meet my little cousins who live in Osorno and I love the south of Chile.

Frutillar

I hope to be back when the pandemic is over <3
Greetings to all!!!
